A word from VBOA - Ian Coomber

Dear All

Organisers Lasse and Lone Nyström and the Danish club have done a fantastic job organising this event and I am very pleased to attach the details of the intinerary and the very competitive prices which have been achieved by the organising team who have attracted a lot of local sponsorship.

Many of you will have been to one of the annual Vauxhall-Bedford meetings organised by Lasse and Lone and will know what a charming place Lundø is and the amazing hospitality you will receive. Denmark is now one of our firm favourite vacation destinations and we for one will be staying over in this lovely country.

With the exchange rate as of today, the meeting fee is just over 120 Euros (£102 ) per person and the accomodation in local holiday cabins and apartments a flat rate 20 Euros (£17) per person per night. Cheaper than staying at home!

For the UK based members some form of ferry trip will also be required. The most obvious route is DFDS Seaways from Harwich to Esbjerg as Esbjerg is only 100 miles from Lundø. This is an overnight ferry which runs on a loop basis so to make the Meeting dates you would need to leave on May 31st with the earliest available return on June 7th. With the kind offer of special rate accomodation and booking help offered in the attached then this will be a pleasure not a hardship!

Prices for this route are currently c. £250 each way for a car and 2 people in a basic cabin. Alternatives are Harwich to Hook of Holland and a 1000km drive north through Holland and Germany or a channel crossing and a long haul north. As you don't get any discount for a return trip maybe go one way and back another?

For UK based participants the VBOA will collect individual deposits and forward them electronically at the due time - this avoids individuals having to pay bank transfer fees of some £20 a time.

Please make a cheque payable to the VBOA for £58.00 and send to:

before March 10th 2011.

You must also advise the organisers of your intention to join the event and arrange with them accomodation as soon as possible.

Kind regards

Ian Coomber
